Week 03September 7 – September 11
Getting Into the Flow
We covered a lot this week, including value personas. I'm finally caught up on what I missed in Week 1, and grad school applications took up most of my time outside class.
Key Learning Moments
What concepts, discussions, activities or experiences resonated with me this week?
We went through quite a few things in class this week, and value personas was one of the main ones. It was a week with a lot of topics rather than one big one.
Honestly, nothing stood out as more special than the rest. I had already seen most of these ideas being used before, so this week felt more like going back over things I recognized than learning something completely new. That isn't a bad thing. It helped to see them laid out properly in the context of the course instead of just picking them up here and there.
I didn't get much time outside class to try any of it myself this week, which is different from Week 2 when I went and built an agent in n8n after class. I'm looking forward to getting hands-on with this material the same way once I have a bit more time.
Personal Connections
How does the week's content connect to my experiences, goals, interests or future plans?
This course connects closely with what I want to do next. I'm planning to go into research or a master's in AI and related fields, so anything that shows how AI gets used in practice is directly useful for where I'm heading.
My most recent self-research work has been on agent reliability, which ties back to what we did in Week 2. Building an agent in n8n is one thing, but whether that agent actually behaves the way you expect every time is the harder question, and that's the part I've been looking into on my own. Seeing agents from both sides, building them in class and studying how reliable they are in my own research, is a good combination.
Challenges & Growth
What difficulties did I encounter, and how did I work through them?
The busy part of this week was grad school applications. They took up most of my free time, so I didn't really get a chance to try the class material outside of class. It's a bit of a trade-off right now, but applications have deadlines and the course material will still be there to try once those are done.
The good news is that I've caught up on everything I missed in Week 1. In Weeks 1 and 2 I kept saying I was still catching up, so it feels good to finally be past that. Things are getting more into a flow now, and I'm keeping up with the course week to week instead of working through old material.

- AI tool used
- Claude, used in Claude Code for this journal and for designing homework
- Purpose
- Two things this week. I used Claude to turn my notes into this entry, as in earlier weeks. Outside the journal, I also used Claude to help design a homework assignment for an AI class where I'm an LA.
- How AI helped
- For the journal, it turned short answers into full paragraphs and kept the structure consistent with the other weeks. For the homework, it gave me a starting point to work from, which should make for an interesting assignment.
